Getting started!
If you are just getting started with remineralization or biological method and want to get some materials into the ground or into your potting soils or into use we would suggest going to the e-commerce store and shop around. Or follow some of our suggestions below!
If you want straight rock dust for remineralization, we recommend the BrixBlend Basalt 40 lb. box. And you can order more than one at a time. The affordable shipping makes it possible to take delivery of up to several hundred pounds much cheaper than hiring a truck to bring it to you from our warehouse for most locations. But at a certain point you would go to common carrier freight depending on weight, moving to high volumes in sacks or loose bulk and wholesale price points. If you are looking for wholesale products and pricing got to the catalogs pages or download the wholesale price sheet. Please note: The price sheet is updated once or twice a year. Prices may change in the interim.
For a more dynamic rock dust for remineralization with liming effect (pH buffering) we suggest the St. George Black Lime (USDA NOP compliant for organic production) or the granulated Swanton Black Lime. These natural rock minerals can be combined with the Basalt at 50/50 or put out alone.
For a simple blend of Rock Dust and Biochar, the Char-Rock "House Mix" formulation is recommended. This has become a standard soil amendment and conditioner for many fruit and vegetable and medicinal growers. This can be built into composting, potting soils or incorporated directly into planting beds.
For a blend of carbon, minerals and microbes for new plantings and seedings The RICHMix Biochar with Humate added is a great formulation and one box from the store will cover about 1200 sq. ft in tillage or incorporated into potting soils. If you are using this in your transplant holes a little bit in the hole in contact with the roots will work all season. Follow the suggested use. Don't worry about burning the plants if used in moderation. None of these materials will burn in the rock dusts and char formulations.
For crop synergists, both the AGT-50 Fulvic liquid mineral concentrate and the PlantBioFit (4 oz.) applied through a dilute spray during the season will stimulate the uptake of the minerals in the soil and produce really healthy plants generally. The Ful-Rok activator kit is a starter kit with 2 oz. of the liquid concentrate and 2 lbs of the stone flour gradation of the basalt. Mixed together in solution and used to water your plants and starter seedlings. One 4 oz. bottle of PlantBioFit natural flavonoid concentrate in dilution with water will cover several acres per season. These are all safe and natural. The Ful-Rok is sold under another label as an FDA certified nutrient supplement for human consumption. We put it in our laying hens' water.
Looking for organic fertilizers? Here's some recommendations: NCO's Pro-Hemp is a good all around dry fertilizer for in-season use, potting soils, and side dressing for fruit and vegetables, hemp and cannabis. For in-season soluble fertilizer applied as a liquid drench or foliar spray we highly recommend the Organic Approach combo of HyphaLink and Encourage. Use in small dosage periodically throughout the entire growth cycle of your plants for optimal results. If you are a grower in the western US contact us about the new BioRock Foundation NFX Biofertilizer we are producing at our plant in California. Shipping loose bulk and sacked product on pre-order.
Remember to build your organic carbon through a living compost material. You need the life in the soil to build fertility. Note that the RICHMIx Biochar has 4 species of mycorrhizae in dormant spore. These will go out and form a symbiotic relationship with most of your plants (except the cole species of cabbage, broccoli etc. which they just ignore)...
If you are looking for biologicals, biological inoculants, beneficial microbes etc. the best place to start is on the biologicals page. However, if you want to get a jump on introducing beneficial microbes into your soils prior to planting, whether for in-season or in anticipation of spring planting we would suggest the Spectrum + Myco or the Bio-Remedy. Both are broad spectrum biologicals which can be spray applied, put into solution for drenches or mixed as dry powder directly into soils fully incorporated in the root zone.

For basic advice in using any of our materials all the product sheets accompanying the shipments have recommendations on best practices and use. For more general information please visit the FAQs page for a general overview on the use of rock dust for remineralization. Or feel free to email us using the contact page, or call for a more thorough discussion, keeping in mind it may take us a few days to return calls during the high season.

Willie’s AGRI-Culture Services, LLC
Willie Gibson, CCA
Willie is a coach, guide, and companion of farmers/growers to advance regenerative stewardship, soil health, and resilient agricultural businesses. He draws from experience in farming and from hundreds of farmers, research & field-based agronomics, managed grazing, and crops production in the NE USA. He thrives when engaged with farmer/growers in education, consulting & research, holistic decision-making, farm business planning, and learning of the microbiological dynamics within and between soils and plants. Willie was born into a Vermont dairy farming family in the early 1960s. Although the farm was sold when he was only five years old, the farmer never left the boy. It has been a life-long gift for which he gives thanks to God. He and his wife of 32 years raised 8 children with home-schooling and homesteading in Vermont. They would not do it any other way. Willie grows crops (organic) and Dexter cattle (grass-fed/grazed) in Ryegate, VT on 10 of the 44 acres of his family’s Beatific Vision Family Farm. Crops include: heirloom dry beans, VT-bred OP corn, OP popcorn, potatoes, winter squash, cabbage, and a host of other food and herb crops for the family. He tries to practice what he teaches and promotes: regenerative, biological, organic - for wholesome products, people, and landscape. |
